Thanasi Kokkinakis v Brandon Holt Head to Head
This will be the first career meeting between Thanasi Kokkinakis and Brandon Holt.

Thanasi Kokkinakis defeated Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi 6-4 6-4 to secure his place in the main draw of the 2023 BNP Paribas Open. Having recently rejoined the top 100, Kokkinakis will play in his sixth successive main draw.
The Aussie, however, will need to improve considerably on serve if he intends to remain competitive at Indian Wells. Against Arnaldi, he landed 58% first serves and served four double faults.
Kokkinakis was also broken twice and had three fewer winners than his Italian opponent. Conserinabbly the gulf in ranking and quality, it was quite amusing the 26-year-old made himself grind a straight-set win.
Nonetheless, he will be pretty pleased to get through and will be looking to repeat his 2015 heroics when he famously reached the fourth round and lost to Bernard Tomic.

Holt Earns Wild Card
Brandon Holt will play in the biggest ATP tournament of his career outside a Slam on Thursday, locking horns against former World No. 69 Thanasi Kokkinakis.
Holt was superb in 2022, cleaning house on the ITF Tour by amassing five titles. But the icing on the cake was delivered at last year’s US Open when he scored the biggest win of his life by knocking out top-ranked American Taylor Fritz in the first round.
It was on his Grand Slam debut and he has since backed up that result with another win at Major, beating Aleksandar Vukic at this year’s Australian Open.
Holt has been to work for main draw appearance, often qualifying at the biggest events, but a wild card in Indian Wells was fully merited despite his lackluster form in 2023.
Kokkinakis v Holt Prediction and Tip
Kokkinakis has momentum on his side. Holt not so much, in fact, the American has only one main draw win on Tour in 2023. We expect the Aussie to cruise into the second round.
