Karen Khachanov v Oscar Otte Head to Head
There has been one previous meeting between these two which came on the grass courts of Halle last season and it was Otte’s big-serving that took him through to the semifinal.

After getting off to a solid start to the season, Khachanov seemed to have overcome his consistency issues at the Australian Open this year where the Russian reached the semifinal. It was his second successive Grand Slam semifinal appearance having done exactly that at the US Open last season as well.
What made the journey special was it included wins over Frances Tiafoe, Yoshihito Nishioka and Sebastian Korda, all players of good repute in their own right.
And even his loss to Stefanos Tsitsipas was a fighting one.
Which is why it has been surprising that Khachanov opted to take a bit of a breather after that and played in only one tournament since. That was at the Dubai Open where Khachanov suffered a shock first round loss to Botic van de Zandschulp, a player who had come into the encounter as a rank outsider at 2/1 odds.

Otte’s Rare Win over Djere
There is a reason why Otte had gone into his opening round match against Laslo Djere as a second favourite. His record this season has been appalling to say the least.
Having once been ranked 36th in the world, Otte has fallen to 82nd on the ATP charts and that has been down to his performances in recent times. This includes his showing in 2023 where he was 2-7 on win-loss coming into this tournament.
That he routed Djere 6-3, 7-5 was a bigger surprise but that’s what you sometimes get when you have a solid serve.
It was this very serve that helped Otte win all 30 of his first serve points in the encounter. You read that right, Otte had a 100% first serve record and while he won only 52% of his second serves, there was going to be no coming back from there for Djere.
With that kind of confidence under his belt, Otte could well fancy his chances in round two but against him is a player who has worked his way back into the top-20 reckoning.
Khachanov v Otte Prediction and Tip
Khachanov is 1/4 to claim a place in the third round and while we think Otte will put up a good show here, we will still go with the Russian to grab this.
