Stefanos Tsitsipas v Jordan Thompson Head to Head
Tsitsipas has played and won two matches against Thompson including one at Wimbledon last year. They faced off in one hardcourt surface match in Washington in 2019 and against, Tsitsipas did not drop a set.

Tsitsipas started the season off darn well with four wins in a row at the United Cup and followed that up with a solid showing at the Australian Open as well.
He made it past Jannik Sinner, Jiri Lehecka and Karen Khachanov to enter the final where he managed to take a set off Novak Djokovic before going down in four.
A couple of Davis Cup singles wins followed soon after but Tsitsipas did not do as well as he would have liked in the first ATP tournament he played in after the Australian Open.
After registering an opening win over Emil Ruusuvuori, he was sent packing in straight sets by Jannik Sinner, despite starting out a 7/10 favourite in the encounter. Tsitsipas now enters a tournament he has played four times before this and made the quarterfinal just once.
He would want to turn things around this time and a convincing win over his 87th-ranked opponent would be a good way to go with it.

Thompson Sends Monfils Packing on Return
Gael Monfils hadn’t played competitive tennis for a while coming into this tournament and he did not last too long against Thompson.
In a match lasting a mere 65 minutes, Thompson routed Monfils 6-3, 6-1 to make it to the second round of this tournament for the second time in a row. Such was Thompson’s dominance over Monfils, he faced no break-points while winning 75% of all his service points.
Thompson also broke his opponent four times in the process.
Just prior to this tournament, Thompson had been forced to feature in a Challenger competition thanks to his poor record elsewhere. He had registered just one ATP match win all season but came back strongly in that Challenger tournament in Rome to win the title.
And now with a convincing win over Monfils, the confidence would be returning. The only issue here is he will be up against a player who is ranked third in the world.
Tsitsipas v Thompson Prediction and Tip
Tsitsipas should not have a lot of problem winning this and not surprisingly he is 1/8 to win it. The only question is whether rustiness could play a part and allow Thompson some breathing space in the encounter.
