Belinda Bencic v Jil Teichmann Head to Head
The pair have played each other twice before. Bencic won their Challenger match in 2017 in Taipei, but Teichmann won their encounter in Cincinnati two years ago,

The reigning Olympic champion, Bencic has enjoyed a fine start to 2023.
She began in Adelaide, where she won her seventh WTA career title, beating Dara Kasatkina in the final.
From there she travelled to Melbourne, where she reached the fourth round of the Australian Open for the second time in her career, losing to the eventual winner Arnya Sabalenka.
And then she added the Abu Dhabi title to her collection, winning all of her matches in straight sets, including the final against Liudmila Samsonova.
Injury forced her to pull out of her planned quarter-final with Iga Świątek in Doha, and she was beaten in the round of 16 of Dubai by the Czech Karolina Muchova.

Teichmann Beats American Qualifier
This is only the second time that Teichmann has featured in the main draw at Indian Wells. Her only previous appearance in 2021 ended in a first round defeat.
But the beneficiary of a kind draw in the form of American qualifier, Ashlyn Krueger, she took full advantage to set up her meeting with Bencic, who she knows well from having played for Switzerland together.
Teichmann took control of the first set against Krueger by breaking her in the fourth game, and then saving three break back points. Another break enabled her io serve out for the set for the loss of just one game.
When Teichmann went a break down in the second set, it seemed like the qualifier was set to make a comeback. But two successive breaks handed the initiative back to the Swiss, and, from there, she was able to close out the match.
Bencic v Teichmann Prediction and Tip
Whilst Teichmann has an even head to head record against Bencic, the latter has enjoyed a great start to 2023, and will be looking to keep that going in this event.
It would be an upset were Teichmann to beat her compatriot.
