Dan Evans v Jack Draper Head to Head

Their only previous meeting came in the 2019 Nottingham Challenger where Evans won in straight sets.

Evans on a Four-Match Losing Streak

Evans hasn’t had the brightest of starts to the season and things need to turn around quickly for him if he wants to hold on to his place in the top 30 of the ATP Rankings.

The British number two struggled through his United Cup campaign, winning just one of the three matches he featured in and then lost in the first round of the Adelaide International 2 competition.

A solid showing at the Australian Open saw him ward off the threat from Facundo Bagnis and Jeremy Chardy but he met his match in Andrey Rublev in the third round. And since then, i.e. since January 21 this season, Evans hasn’t won a match.

A Davis Cup loss against Colombia’s Nicolas Mejia was one of the lowest points of the season for Evans, which was followed by a defeat to Emil Ruusuvuori in Doha and a retirement in Dubai against Borna Coric.

Can he now turn things around a highly-talented and fellow Brit?

Draper Spends Very Little Time on Reidi

In his first match since losing his opener at the Australian Open, Draper did not have to spend a lot of time on court as he routed Leandro Reidi to set up a second round meeting with Evans.

Draper was on court for a mere 57 minutes in his 6-1, 6-1 drubbing of the qualifier Reidi. He lost his serve once too – in his very first serving game – but from that point on it was all one-way traffic as Draper broke his opponent a whopping six times in the encounter.

Other than that first game in which he lost his serve, Draper lost just six points on serve and 20 of 23 points on his first serve in all.

Earlier this season, Draper had reached the second round of the Adelaide International 1 and topped it with a semifinal appearance at Adelaide International 2. While he lost to Rafael Nadal in the opening round at the season’s first major, it wasn’t without a fight.

He will start off a favourite in this one.

Evans v Draper Prediction and Tip

Despite Evans being the more experienced and higher-ranked player, it’s Draper who starts off a 1/2 favourite to win this. Backing him to carve out a victory too and in all likelihood in straight sets.
