Tommy Paul v Jan-Lennard Struff Head to Head

While Paul did not manage to add to the Stockholm Open title he had won in 2021, his performance at the Acapulco Open last week was enough for him to jump to the 19th spot on the world rankings, just one away from his career-best ranking.
And that career-best ranking of 18th had also come earlier this year when Paul made it all the way to the semifinal of the Australian Open where he went down to Novak Djokovic.
Paul featured in Adelaide and Delray Beach on either side of that first major of the season and did nothing of note but wins over Michael Mmoh, Mackenzie McDonald and most importantly Taylor Fritz in Acapulco would have given him a lot of confidence.

Struff Registers Fighting Win against Halys
After qualifying for the tournament main draw by winning a couple of victories, Struff had started off a favourite against Quentin Halys.
A first set loss in double-quick time, however, would have pegged the German back especially given he hadn’t won a single main draw match on the ATP circuit before that this season.
Struff slowly clawed back though, taking advantage of Halys’ poor serving in one game in the second set to level things out. And once he had found a way to do that, he kept attacking his opponent’s serve in the decider too, earning break-points in the first, fifth and ninth games of the final set.
He broke twice, including when Halys served to stay in the match, to carve out his maiden ATP win of the season.
Against Paul though, Struff will need to do a lot more than to just wait on his opponent’s mistakes to attempt to win the encounter.
