Frech Records her first Win
World No. 106 Magdalena Frech has just won her first WTA match of the season by beating Maryna Zanevska 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the BNP Paribas opener.
It is also worth noting that the 25-year-old Pole fell in the qualifiers on Tuesday, succumbing to Ashlyn Krueger 2-6, 0-6. The lucky loser rule sent her to the main draw, and now, she finds herself competing in the second round of Indian Wells for the third successive year.
Frech’s last two campaigns ended right at this stage, but this time, she has a chance to go further.
Even though Jabeur may be out of form, Magdalena will still need to bring a disciplined approach and try to keep the errors count on the low side. Making her case for the same is her last two seasons where she won a total of 76 matches and lost 57. Despite this, Frech has not moved much in the rankings.
