Daniil Medvedev v Ilya Ivashka Head to Head
This rivalry dates back to the Futures tournaments days of 2015 and has seen seven matches played between these two in all. Medvedev leads 6-1 with Ivashka’s only win coming in the 2018 edition of the Davis Cup.
More recently they faced off twice last year, in Halle and Rosmalen and Medvedev did not drop a set.

Medvedev Sends Nakashima Packing
Clearly in the form of his life, Medvedev continued in the same vein when he eased past USA’s Brandon Nakashima in the second round of this tournament. This followed a first round bye for the seeded Medvedev.
Medvedev won 6-4, 6-3 in an hour and 27 minutes and despite facing six break-points in the match, he did not lose his serve even once. On the other hand, the Russian broke Nakashima three times including once when he was serving to stay in the match at 3-5 in the second set.
Earlier this season, Medvedev had crashed out of the Australian Open in the third round in what was a shock result but since then has found a way to get back on path.
He has won 15 matches in a row now, which has included title wins at Rotterdam, Doha and most vitally in Dubai where he defeated Novak Djokovic in the semifinal in straight sets.
There shouldn’t be a lot of trouble for Medvedev to make it through here as he looks to emulate his best showing of a four round presence in Indian Wells.

Ivashka Through after van de Zanschulp Injury
Botic van de Zandschulp has had injury concerns this season and in a latest one, he was forced to retire from his second round match against Ivashka.
Ivashka led 7-5, 3-2 in their second round match before his Dutch opted out of the competition, leaving his opponent with two successive wins at a tournament he had never won a main draw match before.
This also follows a horrid start to the season for Ivashka, who lost in the first round at Australian Open, Dallas Open, Delray Beach Open and in Doha. Things seemed to have come to a head when Ivashka failed to win even his qualifier in Dubai, despite entering his match against Alexander Shevchenko as a 1/3 favourite.
So for him to now overcome Roman Safiullin and van de Zandschulp, albeit thanks to some luck, would be both, pleasing and a relief.
Against Medvedev, however, it could be back to usual with Ivashka only hoping he can put up some fight.
Medvedev v Ivashka Prediction and Tip
