Iga Swiatek v Bianca Andreescu Head to Head
They met once at the Rome quarterfinals last year with Swiatek winning that match in straight sets.

Iga Swiatek trounced Claire Liu in straight sets in the second round on Saturday to begin her title defence.
The top seed dropped just seven points in the first set as she bagelled the American. She continued her dominance in the second set as well and allowed Liu to take just one game as she raced to a 6-0, 6-1 victory in an hour and five minutes.
While the 21-year-old pole did not face a break point in the match, she converted 5 of 9 to rout the world no. 56.
The world no. 1, who defeated Maria Sakkari for the title last year, improved her season record to 13-3. The Pole made back-to-back final appearances in the last two tournaments, winning the title in Doha and finishing runner-up to Barbora Krejcikova in Dubai.
All of Swiatek’s matches this year have been decided in straight sets.
She looked in terrific form on Saturday as she began by winning 11 games in a row. Liu saved a match point in the 12th game and held serve to avoid being double bagelled, but Swiatek closed out the contest in the next game. Expect her to continue her dominance in the tournament.

Andreescu Survives First Round Test
No. 32 seed Bianca Andreescu fought back from a set down to fend off world no. 126 Peyton Stearns of the U.S. in the second round on Saturday.
The Canadian, who had lost her first round matches in the last two tournaments in Abu Dhabi and Dubai respectively, ended a three-match losing streak with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 win over the American.
Andreescu had gone up a break twice in the first set, but Stearns came back on both the occasions and eventually got a third break to seal the first set.
The Canadian drew level in the second set with a solitary break and then she took charge of the match in the final set, building a 5-1 lead. Stearns did show some resistance, but Andreescu took the two hours and 26 minutes contest 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
The 22-year-old, who had won the Indian Wells title in 2019, is 6-5 in 2023. In her past five tournaments this year, only once has she been able to win consecutive matches and that was in Hua Hin, where she went on to reach the semifinals.
Swiatek v Andreescu Prediction and Tip
Swiatek has dominated the women’s game over the last one year, while Andreescu’s struggles with injury over the last couple of years has been a cause for inconsistent results over the last one year. Expect the top seed to dominate the contest and beat Andreescu in straight sets.
