Jessica Pegula v Anastasia Potapova
Jessica Pegula will be looking for win number three over Potapova in their Indian Wells clash. The previous two matches happened in 2021 and Pegula was able to win both matches. It’s a good matchup for her because they play somewhat similarly as they like to hit the ball really hard but Pegula is more consistent.
Potapova has improved quite a bit since then and she’s now far more consistent than before. Her results speak well about that with 12 wins in 18 matches already. Pegula is still the more impressive player as she’s up to 14 wins and only 4 losses.
It should be a really uncomplicated match in the way it’s going to play out. Potapova needs to find a way to win points on serve because if she allows Pegula to run all over her, it’s over. The American will simply need to keep her focus and hit a well as she can.
I do think that this match goes over on the games because I can see the conditions impacting the momentum of the match. Still, Pegula is heavily favoured and should win. Probably in two sets.
Tip: Over 20.5 games: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Coco Gauff v Linda Noskova
A very interesting one will happen between Gauff and Noskova. They never played before but this first one should be a proper spectacle. The odds highlight quite a bit of respect for Noskova and it’s no wonder. She’s a player who loves to play in conditions like these and has the game to do really well.
12 wins and only four losses this year show that it’s trending to be a breakout year for her and her clay prowess is rather well known. Still, beating Gauff will always be hard as the American is still playing on a very high level. She too has 12 wins but one loss less than Noskova.
The main thing for Gauff will be to send many balls back and use her supreme athleticism to create a good chance for her to attack. She’s quicker around the court than Noskova but I feel like the Czech player has a better forehand which she can use to create space.
Still, I do think that Gauff is better right now and she should win this one. Not a great odd but it has value.
Tip: Gauff to win: 1/2 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Alexander Zverev v Emil Ruusuvuori
Zverev faces a very hard challenge for him as Ruusuvuori proved in round one that he’s feeling pretty strongly on these courts. It’s not a surprise because his heavy groundstroke game can do wonders here with the high bounce but only if he plays well.
A streaky player by nature, Ruusuvuori can play himself out of matches more than once and Zverev is very well-versed in defending from behind the baseline. It’s sort of how he came up in tennis but it doesn’t always work. He saw it in 2021 when Ruusuvori beat him in Miami.
This one finds them playing at a really similar level as Zverev is working his way back but that doesn’t mean he’ll have a cruise in this one. I honestly expect to see three sets or at the very least two very close sets. Zverev is the favourite and he’s likely to win but I think there is good value in the over.
It will be hard to break Ruusuvuori and Zverev is good enough to keep his serve as well so that’s where I kind of eel the over comes in handy.
Tip: Over 22.5 games in the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
