Daniil Medvedev v Alexander Zverev Head to Head
They have not met since the ATP Finals final in 2021, which Zverev won, but they have met 12 times in all and both players have won 6 times each. While Zverev was more dominant in the earlier exchanges, Medvedev has won most of their recent exchanges.

Medvedev Extends Streak
Daniil Medvedev extended his unbeaten streak to 16 matches as he knocked out Belarus’ Ilya Ivashka in the third round of the Indian Wells Open on Sunday.
The win, however, was not an easy one as Medvedev’s 18-set winning streak ended with the Belarusian claiming the second set, but the Russian eventually raised his game in the final set to clinch a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 victory in an hour and 46 minutes.
Medvedev, who had beaten Brandon Nakashima in the first round, had last dropped a set in the quarterfinal in Doha. Since then he had won eight consecutive matches in straight sets.
Against the world no. 85 on Sunday, Medvedev was on top of his game in the first set, saving the only break point that he faced and breaking his opponent twice to go one-up. He also broke Ivashka in the very first game of the second set, but the Belarusian found a way back into the contest with a double break in the set that tied the match at one-set apiece.
Medvedev, however, hit top gear in the final set, racing to a 5-0 lead before Ivashka finally get on the board. But Medvedev closed out the contest in the next game and took another step towards a fourth consecutive title.
A four-time Masters champion, Medvedev has won the last three tournaments in a row, triumphing in Rotterdam, Doha and Dubai.
However, he doesn’t seem quite happy with the pace of the courts in Indian Wells, and expressed his displeasure to the chair umpire Mohamed Lahyani during the third round contest, while he was going for a toilet break. Will that be a factor here?
He has never gone past the fourth round at Indian Wells. Will the slowness of the court affect his progress again or given his sensational form, he will reach his maiden quarterfinal at Indian Wells this year?

Zverev Holds Off Ruusuvuori
Alexander Zverev continued to grow in confidence after another good win in Indian Wells on Sunday.
The German, who had a premature end to the 2022 season after injuring himself during the Roland Garros semifinal, had a slow start to 2023. But, with a run to the semifinals in Dubai in the last tournament, he indicated a return to form and now he has two wins from two matches in Indian Wells.
Zverev had ousted Argentina’s Pedro Cachín 6-3, 6-1 in the first round and on Sunday, he held off Emil Ruusuvuori in a three-set contest.
The five-time Masters champion came back from a break down to take the first set. He was outplayed by the Finn in the second, but edged the third with a second break late in the set after both had traded a break early in the set.
The 7-5, 1-6, 7-5 victory came in two hours and 42 minutes.
Zverev has featured in just one Indian Wells quarterfinal and that was in 2021. Can he reach another in what is his seventh appearance in the tournament?
Medvedev v Zverev Prediction and Tip
Medvedev is in red-hot form at the moment and it will take a massive effort from Zverev to stop the world no. 6. The world no. 14 is also slowly returning to the level that saw him win 19 titles over his career. So expect the German to challenge but Medvedev should advance.
