Kiki Bertens v Magda Linette Head to Head

The pair have met once before, but that was nearly nine years ago when they were both playing on the Challenger circuit. Played on the clay of Antalya, Turkey, Bertens won on that occasion 7-5, 6-1.

Bertens, Looking for a Good Run in Indian Wells

27-year-old Bertens is in the form of her life, and hoping for another strong run in California this week. Now up to number seven in the world, she confirmed her continuing rise in the world rankings by winning the St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy in February, beating Donna Vekic of Croatia in the final to claim her eighth senior career title.

And she is playing on a surface that she likes, having won the biggest title of her career to date last year at the Cincinatti Masters, which, like Indian Wells, is played on hard courts.

Other than her run at the St. Petersburg Open, which she won as mentioned above, there was a semi-final appearance at the Sydney International as well just before the Australian Open, and a quarter-final appearance at Doha where she lost to Elise Mertens.

Linette, Solid Professional But Little Threat

Like her opponent, Linette is 27 years old too, but there the similarities end. Currently ranked 92 in the world, she has never reached a WTA final, and has a very poor record against players in the top ten, with just a solitary victory over jelena Jankovic to her name.

There is little she has shown in 2019 to date to suggest she can upset the odds against Bertens. She lost to Greet Minnen of Belgium in Hobart, and then had the misfortune to come up against Naomi Osaka in the first round in Melbourne.

However, she did get to the semi-finals of the Challenger event in Thailand, and battled past Petra Martic of Croatia here to set-up the meeting with Bertens.

Bertens v Linette Predictions & Tips

Bertens is heavy odds-on favourite to win at 1/6, whilst you can get 47/10 for Linette (bet365) . However, given her terrible record against players in the top ten, any other result than an easy win for the Dutch woman will be a major surprise.

Tip: Bertens to win 2-0: 4/7 (betway)
