ATP Miami Open 2023 Betting Tips & Predictions

Men’s Singles: Favorites to Win the 2023 Miami Open

Should Carlos Alcaraz defeat Daniil Medvedev in the Indian Wells final, he will walk into the 38th edition of the Miami Open as the World No. 1 again. Note that at the time of writing the Indian Wells final has yet to be played.

But Alcaraz will definitely need to win the Miami Open too and complete the Sunshine Double in order to keep that spot.

Alcaraz will be a huge force in Florida. He is defending champion. Last year he became the youngest champion in the tournament’s history when he defeated Casper Ruud for the title. The young Spaniard has also laid to rest his recent injury troubles which forced him to withdraw from Acapulco last month. We are taking the 19-year-old to keep his unbeaten streak in Miami intact.

Both Alcaraz and Medvedev might have a shot at the Sunshine Double depending on who wins the Indian Wells final later on Sunday evening. The last man to do so happened to be Roger Federer back in his glorious 2017 comeback season.

Medvedev has won three titles this year and had compiled a 19-match winning streak heading to the Indian Wells final. With the rest of the top-10 field looking slightly out of sorts, it is hard to look past those two names right now.

Men’s Singles: Players to Watch at the Miami Open

The top-10 pack outside Medvedev and Alcaraz had a difficult time coping with the conditions. Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud both lost before the second week in Indian Wells. But I expect a response, particularly from Tsitsipas whose form has been somewhat astounding given what he accomplished in Australia.

The word was that Tsitsipas was nursing a shoulder injury coming to Indian Wells, so most likely it played a part in his shock defeat to Jordan Thompson.

Ruud is a difficult one to predict right now. He enters a crucial fortnight with 600 ranking points to defend. The Norwegian has performed well below expectations this year and this could be another tricky week to navigate.

Jannik Sinner is on the precipice of re-entering the top 10. The Italian No. 1 lost in the semis to Alcaraz in Indian Wells, but will fancy his chances on the slick surface at the Hard Rock Stadium. Sinner is a former finalist in these parts and knows the conditions better than anybody.

Men’s Singles: Dark Horses to Reach Second Week at Indian Wells

Let’s go with players who have shown huge potential in recent weeks. Alexander Zverev has sorted his movement and it looks like he might be due for a deep run.

Zverev finished runner-up to John Isner back in 2018 Miami final in the event’s last staging in Key Biscayne. The German is steadily finding form and lost in a thriller to Medvedev in Indian Wells. If he gets a good draw here, he might be a difficult cookie to break.

Taylor Fritz’s title defense in Inidna Wells came to an end this week. So he enters the Miami Open without a ton of points to defend. Last year he reached the round of 16, so a run to the second week, potentially a semifinal, could get his ranking back up again.

Fitness permitting, Jack Draper is another player enjoying a really fine full season on the ATP Tour. Draper’s biggest obstacle to achieving his objectives is his body. Last week, an abdominal strain hampered the Briton in his mouthwatering round of 16 match against Alcaraz. We’ll take the 21-year-old lefty to reach win his quarter.
