The highly-talented Fruhvirtova gave a glimpse of what’s to come in the future when she made it to the fourth round at the Australian Open She got there with two expected wins before stunning Marketa Vondrousova in the third round.
Since then, however, things haven’t gone as smoothly for the Czech 17-year-old.
Fruhvirtova has made the second round at three successive tournaments including the Indian Wells Open two weeks ago but failed to go beyond. In Indian Wells, Fruhvirtova needed a three-setter against Mayar Sherif in the first round before she was ousted in three by Anhelina Kalinina.
Losses to Jelena Ostapenka and Tamara Zidansek point to a certain amount of rawness which you can expect from a player who hasn’t been playing competitive tennis for that long. That being said, it must be quickly added that Fruhvirtova had made the fourth round here last season!

Sebov Surprises in Qualifiers
Sebov is currently ranked 172nd in the world and that is her career-best ranking. As a result of her low ranking she hasn’t played in too many WTA tournaments obviously and this will be just her third appearance in one this season.
At the Auckland Open Sebov had been sent packing in the qualifiers itself before she made it through the qualifiers at the Australian Open to enter the main draw. There she won just three games in the first round against Caroline Garcia.
A title win on the ITF circuit followed she opted not to take part in the Indian Wells Open qualifiers – instead flying to Miami. And Sebov has managed a couple of surprise results in this tournament to make the first round.
In the opening qualifier, Sebov defeated the favourite Kamila Rakhimova before overturning a first set loss against Jodie Burrage to win the second qualifier. She now has a tight opening encounter but as far as confidence goes, there will be no short of that.

Fruhvirtova holds the edge but Sebov isn’t a player she would like to take lightly. Expecting Fruhvirtova to win in a three-set tussle.
