It’s been bit of a strange season for Isner.
On the one hand, he has reached the final of the Dallas Open where it needed Wu Yibing three tie-breakers to edge out the American and former world number eight.
On the other hand, however, Isner hasn’t had any other victories under his belt. Gregoire Barrere overcame him in Auckland, Adrian Mannarino defeated him at the Australian Open and Taylor Fritz had pushed him out of the Apaculco Open.
Which is why despite facing up to an equally out of form Brandon Nakashima in the first round of the Indian Wells Open two weeks ago, Isner fell in straight sets to the fellow American.
He now has another chance to break his three-match losing streak as he takes on the 182nd-ranked Nava. Surely, Isner has a decent chance here?

Nava Has Won One Career Match
Nava has never been in the top 170 of the ATP Rankings but has been tipped to be one of the players to watch out in the future. For now though, he hasn’t had a lot of results going his way.
Having made his ATP circuit main draw debut in 2019, Nava has won just one match at that level to go with seven defeats to his name.
This year, he has played in four ATP competitions, but made no main draws. He came close to making his Australian Open debut before losing to Nicolas Jarry in the third qualifier round.
Nava’s only win of his career came at the US Open last season where he shocked John Millman but more vitally he also managed to take a set off Andy Murray in the second round. Will he put up a fight against Isner?
