This will be a first meeting between the two.

Zheng Returns from Injury Break
She was impressive last year and the 20-year-old has carried that form to 2023.
China’s Qinwen Zhenng, who reached her maiden WTA final at the Japan Open in 2022 and also won her maiden WTA 125 title in Valencia, is 9-5 across levels in 2023.
Zheng produced her best result of the season in Abu Dhabi a month ago, when she knocked out Jelena Ostapenko and Daria Kasatkina en route the semifinal, but her run was halted by Liudmilla Samsonova.
The world no. 23 has not won consecutive main draw matches in any of the other five tournaments that she has played in this year.
Zheng last played in the first round in Dubai when she beat compatriot Shuai Zhang in straight sets. She could not take further part in that tournament due to abdominal pain and subsequently she pulled out of the Indian Wells Open.
So the second round contest in Miami will be a test of Zheng’s fitness who makes her return from injury. Zheng is making her second appearance in the tournament. Lats year, she lost in the opening round.

Begu Holds Off Eala
The vastly experienced Irina-Camelia Begu began her Miami Open campaign with a straight sets win over 17-year-old Alex Eala.
The Romanian may have needed just two sets to beat the Philippines player but Eala didn’t go down without a fight.
Eala broke Begu’s serve in just the second game of the match to lead 0-2, but it was the world no. 34 who roared back into the contest, winning six on the trot and taking the first set.
The world no. 219 then lifted her game in the second set and broke Begu thrice in the first six games to build a 1-5 lead. But despite building the big lead, the wild card struggled to close out the set. She squandered a set point in the seventh game and then missed out on four more set points in the ninth game as Begu came right back into the contest.
The 32-year-old once again won six games in a row to win the nerve-wracking contest 6-2, 7-5 in an hour and 50 minutes.
Begu, who is making her 10th main draw appearance in Miami, snapped a four-match losing streak in the first round. She had last won a match in the first round of the Australian Open, but ever since her second round exit from the first major, she had lost her opening matches in Linz, Dubai and Indian Wells.
She is 5-5 in 2023, with her best being a run to the semifinals in Adelaide.
Zheng v Begu Prediction and Tip
Zheng’s recent form has been better than Begu; the Chinese player has also beaten some big names recently, including world no. 8 Kasatkina. It was her third career top 10 win.
