Ilya Ivashka v Daniel Altmaier Head to Head
About seven years ago, these two had faced off in an ITF circuit encounter which Ivashka had won. This will be their first match since then.

He was ranked 73rd on the ATP charts at the start of the season but fell to 85th at the start of the Indian Wells Masters. It was a third round appearance at the season’s first Masters tournament which helped him climb up a few spots on the rankings list.
The reason for his underwhelming ranking has been the corresponding results all season.
Having made a name for himself in 2021, Ivashka’s form had fallen apart in 2022 but even he wouldn’t have expected things to go this awry at the start of the 2023 season.
Ivashka featured in five ATP tournaments in the run-up to the Indian Wells Open and did not win a single match. At Dubai, where he was a 1/3 favourite to overcome Alexander Shevchenko in the qualifiers, he lost in three sets as well.
Now with a couple of Indian Wells victories, Ivashka will hope he can turn his fortunes around and start notching up a few victories.

Altmaier’s Won Just One Main Draw Match This Season
Ivashka isn’t the only player struggling for form; Altmaier hasn’t won too much this year either.
The German player failed to make it past the first round at either of the Auckland Open and Australian Open and then lost to Stan Wawrinka in the Davis Cup. His only main draw win came in Dallas but since then hasn’t won anything in the top-level ATP competitions.
What Altmaier has done is to feature on the Challenger circuit as a result of that poor run and reached the quarterfinals in Monterrey and Puerto Vallarta.
That appearance in Puerto Vallarta meant he had to give the Indian Wells Open a miss but Altmaier has made it through to the main draw here with wins over the 426th-ranked Martin Damm and Geoffrey Blancaneaux.
