Marie Bouzkova v Anna Blinkova Head to Head

It’s 2-2 from their previous meetings. None of their four matches have gone into the third set. They have met once this year, in the Round of 16 in Hobart, and Blinkova won that match 7-5, 6-4.

Bouzkova Is 3-7 in the Main Draws in 2023

World no. 36 Marie Bouzkova has had an uninspiring run so far in 2023. The Czech is 3-7 in the main draws and 5-8, including qualifying rounds.

Besides her win over Jule Niemeier in the United Cup, Bouzkova won her first round matches in Hobart and Dubai against Jaqueline Cristian and Sofia Kenin respectively. Other than those wins she has struggled to get going this year.

The 31st seed will be making her third appearance in Miami, but is currently on a three-match losing streak, which began with a second round defeat to Elena Rybakina in Dubai. Bouzkova suffered first round defeats in Monterey and Indian Wells respectively.

Bouzkova had an extraordinary 42-14 run last year (across levels) and that included her first major quarterfinal in Wimbledon, a first WTA title in Prague, a runner-up finish at the WTA 250 in Guadalajara and a semifinals finish in the WTA 1000 in Guadalajara. She will be desperate to regain that sort of form soon. Can Miami bring her good fortune?

Blinkova Dumps Out Niemeier

Anna Blinkova didn’t have much trouble in dispatching Germany’s Jule Niemeier in the opening round.

The Russian had 16 breaking opportunities in the match but she could convert just five of those chances. Her opponent had two, and she converted just one of those. In the end Blinkova claimed a 6-4, 6-1 victory in an hour and 35 minutes to register her first win in Miami. She had made her debut in 2021, but could not go past the first round.

Ranked no. 63 in the world , Blinkova is 9-7 from all her matches this year. She was at her best in Hobart, where she went from qualifiers to the semifinals. One of the wins in Hobart was over Bouzkova. Since that run she has won just three more matches, including the win over Niemeier, and this is the sixth tournament since Hobart. So her current form is not too encouraging and therefore this second round contest is expected to be an interesting one.

Bouzkova v Blinkova Prediction and Tip

This one is expected to be a close affair; Bouzkova has a better record but Blinkova won their most recent battle. But both players have struggled lately. So expect an interesting matchup. They have never played a three-setter, but this one may go the distance with Bouzkova edging through.
