Hubert Hurkacz v Thanasi Kokkinakis Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came in the qualifying rounds of the 2018 Atlanta Open and Kokkinakis had won that.

Hurkacz’s only Masters 1000 title came in the 2021 edition of the Miami Open and he followed that up with a semifinal appearance at this tournament last season.
He broke into the top 10 as a result of those performances and is currently at his career-best ranking of ninth in the world. A fourth round appearance at the Australian Open and a title win in Marseille have ensured he has kept up with that ranking.
More recently though, Hurkacz was bundled out of the Indian Wells Masters in the third round.
He had eased past Alexei Popyrin in the second round following an opening bye but Tommy Paul overcame the odds to undo Hurkacz’s good start to the encounter.
The Polish number one will hope to power through his second round opponent here and go much farther than he did two weeks ago.

Lucky Loser Kokkinakis Makes the Second Round
Kokkinakis has reserved some of his best tennis for the Miami Masters, having entered this year’s edition with a fourth round appearance last year.
It looked to have ended poorly at one stage when Kokkinakis lost to Benoit Paire in the qualifiers earlier this week but a late withdrawal of Filip Krajinovic allowed the Aussie to make it to the main draw.
And in the first round, Kokkinakis actually started off as a huge favourite against Zizou Bergs with bookmakers pegging him for 3/20 to win his opener. He almost lost it.
Kokkinakis needed to save three match-points in the final set to overcome Bergs 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7) in two hours and 31 minutes to make the second round.
Having lost the first set and broken his opponent in the second to level the proceedings, the Aussie was first down 4-2 in the decider and then was 6-4 and 7-6 behind in the ensuring tie-breaker. Kokkinakis fought back to win it and a place in round two.
Can he now find himself a new level of tennis to go through the world number nine?

Hurkacz, at 1/3, is a good pick to win this and while Kokkinakis will always be up for a fight, we think the Pole will take this in two.
