Daniil Medvedev v Roberto Carballés Baena Head to Head

Medvedev might not find a lot of respite when it comes to the speed of the surface, with the Miami Open courts also expected to play like those in Indian Wells. Which is why his experience of winning five matches in a row there will come handy.

Carballés Baena Aided by Zapata Miralles Injury
It was a match and a result that Bernabe Zapata Miralles would love to forget in a hurry. Carballes Baena took advantage of Zapata Miralles’ poor form and fitness struggles to race off to a 6-0, 3-0 lead in 49 minutes before his opponent retired from the match because of injury.
As a result Carballes Baena will now feature in the second round of the Miami Open for only the second time in his career. This was also only Carballes Baena’s fourth win of the season.
Carballes Baena had come into the match on the back of three successive losses and was reeling at three wins and eight defeats in the season. Which is also why he was a 11/10 underdog entering the encounter but overturned that to carve out the win.
