Felix Auger-Aliassime v Francisco Cerundolo Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these players, both of which came earlier this year. The first at the Australian Open went to four sets before Auger-Aliassime won but he then made up for that with a straight-set win at the Indian Wells Open two weeks ago.

It was expected to be a cakewalk for Auger-Aliassime if the bookmakers were to believed with Thiago Monteiro making it to their second round match at 8/1 odds for a win. It turned out to be a rather close affair with the Canadian needing to save a set-point and requiring two tie-breakers to come through.
In a match lasting two hours and 43 minutes, Auger-Aliassime managed to overcome Monteiro 7-6 (5), 7-6 (8) to enter the third round.
While Auger-Aliassime did not face a single break-point in the match, he would be slightly disgruntled by his inability to convert any of the five that he got.
He was forced into a tie-breaker in both sets and even faced a set-point in the second but limped through to the win after squandering three match-points. He would like to do a lot better than this in round three.

Cerundolo Eases Past Kovacevic
For the second competition in a row, Cerundolo had a first round bye, won his second round match against an American and will face Auger-Aliassime in the third.
The question is whether he can avoid making a second successive defeat in as many tournaments at the hands of the Canadian?
Facing Aleksander Kovacevic in his second round encounter, Cerundolo carved out a 6-4, 6-4 win in an hour and 24 minutes. He was broken once in the encounter but that came in the first set when he was already 5-2 up and he quickly wrapped the set up in his next service game.
In the second set, Cerundolo faced no break-points while getting past Kovacevic’s serve in the seventh game to seal off the win.
This was Cerundolo’s ninth win to go with his eight losses, in what has been a mediocre season for the 31st-ranked player. He would have to do a lot better to try and get past his Canadian opponent here.
Auger-Aliassime v Cerundolo Prediction and Tip
The thing about Auger-Aliassime this season has been he hasn’t been playing at his best. Which is why, while he starts off as a favourite there is always that niggling doubt about how easily will he get past his opponent. This time around we could see an over 21.5 games in the match.
