Frances Tiafoe v Lorenzo Sonego
Frances Tiafoe will be favoured in this matchup due to several reasons but it’s not a matchup that is without danger. Sonego is capable of producing incredible results if his serve is working well and for the most part it’s been going really well so far in Miami.
They played twice so far and both matches were played on hard courts with each winning one of the matches. Sonego won the most recent one which was played in the Davis Cup. Right now it’s Tiafoe who is playing better tennis but it’s not a matchup where he’s unbeatable.
Sonego proved he can beat him and that’s the tricky part. A lot of will depend on how the Italian serves because it was a match indoors that he won and he won thanks to his serve.
Miami is a bit different and should give Tiafoe more chances to find ways how to counter Sonego properly. I think he’ll be able to and I think he gets it in two sets.
Tip: Tiafoe to win: 1/3 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Elena Rybakina v Elise Mertens
Elena Rybakina barely made it to the 4th round of the event having to save a match point against Paula Badosa. That match point turned things around for her as she started to play much better and much more precisely. She ultimately won the match against Badosa to put herself in a position to make the quarter-final here.
She plays against Mertens, a player who discovered quite a bit of good form lately and a player who has defeated Rybakina in the past. The H2H favours the Kazakh player still with a 2-1 score overall but their last match was only in 2021.
It’s been a while since then and Rybakina improved quite a bit. A lot will depend on how Rybakina plays because she is the better player and the match will unfold on her terms. If she produces a very good level she’s likely to win comfortably.
I think she will get it done but I do think Mertens will make it quite tough. The over seems like a good position to take.
Tip: Over 20.5 games: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Stefanos Tsitsipas v Cristian Garin
Cristian Garin keeps winning matches but the Chilean is not looking as sharp as he looked in Indian Wells. He’ll face Tsitsipas who hasn’t played a single match here so far so that’s a decent opportunity for him to maybe surprise the Greek player.
We haven’t seen a high level from Tsitsipas in a while but this is a matchup he should be winning regularly, especially on hard courts. Tsitsipas generally has more success in Miami in Indian Wells and I expect an improved level from him here.
A lot will come down to how well they hit the ball and Tsitsipas won both of their previous matches. Both were clay matches which has some similarities with how Miami plays.
It could be a close and entertaining match but I expect Tsitsipas to keep it in two and win in the end. I like the odds on that one very much.
Tip: Tsitsipas to win in straight sets: 4/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
