Our 2023 ATP Houston Open Predictions & Picks
Frances Tiafoe reached the final in Estoril last year but has chosen to begin his clay swing preparations on home soil this time. That could be a good omen for Tiafoe who recently made the semifinal of a Masters 1000 tournament for the first time at Indian Wells.
Tiafoe is the top seed and he is unlikely to get a better chance of adding to his trophy cabinet in Houston.
Chile’s Cristian Garin won this tournament in 2019, and although he fell out of the top 100 last year, he managed to resuscitate his lost confidence in 2023. Garin was among the top performers in the Sunshine Swing and is a dark horse in Houston.
Another player who should garner plenty of attention is Argentina’s newest star, Tomas Martin Etcheverry. Having made his maiden ATP final in Santiago at the start of March, Etcheverry embodies the expertise of a clay-court specialist. He will be seeded in Houston which could give him a slightly trouble-free route to a potential title win.
