Our 2023 WTA Charleston Open Predictions & Picks
Five former champions are in the draw including Sloane Stephens, Madison Keys, Veronika Kudermetova, and Daria Kasatkina. Obviously, the green clay here plays slightly faster than red clay, so it kind of favors the big hitters.
So if we stretch that list, you could possibly add Danielle Collins and Ekaterina Alexandrova as both of them can outhit any player on their day.
We are going with two distinct names who on the basis of performances this year and in recent weeks look good value for money.
Victoria Azarenka is making an unfamiliar stop in Charleston. It’s just her third appearance in South Carolina and a first since 2010. Azarenka has won over 100 matches on clay at pro level and she might be overdue for just her second title on clay.
The dark horse in the draw has to be Spain’s Paula Badosa who was extremely unfortunate to exit the last two WTA 1000 events so early. She fell both times to Elena Rybakina. She looks to be in good shape again after a troubled start to the year.
