This will be the first meeting between Popyrin and Laaroussi.

Popyrin Opens Up His Clay Court Campaign
A former world number 59, Popyrin has fallen by the wayside, at least as far as the ATP Rankings are concerned. The good news, however, is he has jumped up a little in those rankings this season thanks to some of his consistent performances in recent times.
The Aussie qualified to make it to the quarterfinals at the Adelaide International and then went on to win two rounds at the Australian Open as well. A couple of quarterfinal appearances on the Challenger circuit have followed too, which allowed him to climb back to 84th.
Currently 93rd in the world, Popyrin will now hope he can try and replicate the same showing on clay as well. It’s not his most favourite surface, with the Aussie having won just five of the 15 top-level matches he has played on that surface.
A win percentage of 33% compares quite poorly to the 43% in hardcourt competitions for Popyrin.
This will be a good chance for him to add to his clay win tally.

Laaroussi to Play in His First Match of the Season
Featuring in his first competitive match of the season, the 21-year-old local will under the enormity of the task ahead. He has never been ranked better than 915th in the world and has never played even at the Challenger level in his career.
All his matches after his debut in 2017 have been on the Futures circuit and he holds an overall win-loss record of 21-22 on it.
This sudden jump to playing at the highest level would obviously be quite a big one for him. More so because he hasn’t featured in any competitive match all season so far.
What it could do is to help him garner some confidence for the rest of the season having played a top-100 player. Even strong showing in just one of the sets would go a long way in doing so.
Popyrin v Laaroussi Prediction and Tip
A straightforward win can be expected for Popyrin with Laaroussi’s only hope being the Australian player struggling to make that transition to clay.
