Elina Svitolina v Yulia Putintseva Head to Head
Svitolina holds a massive 6-1 lead over her Kazakh adversary, beating her last in the 2021 Australian Open in straight sets.

Svitolina Returning from Maternity Leave
Former world number three Elina Svitolina is set to resume her career following the maternity break. Her last professional match was in Miami last March, and in October, she gave birth to her child.
The Ukrainian did not train a lot in 2022 for obvious reasons, with the war in her native country also taking an emotional toll on her.
That said, the 28-year-old has spent the last few weeks hitting the ball on the courts, and it will be interesting to see how ready she is. Evident from the superb career she has had so far, there’s no doubt about her skills or abilities – it is just a matter of finding the momentum and getting back to her groove.
Svitolina’s exploits include two WTA Finals, four WTA 1000 finals, and two Grand Slam semifinals. Surely, she can find it in herself to dispatch her struggling opponent in Charleston.

Putintseva Getting in her Element
Yulia Putintseva, current World No. 43, has arrived in Charleston following a slow start to the season. Three months in, the 28-year-old Kazakh is 7-9, with her best results being round two stints in Abu Dhabi and Dubai and a quarterfinal showing in Hobart.
In Indian Wells and Miami, she lost her opening-round matches, respectively, to Karolina Muchova and Rebecca Marino. But now that she is stepping onto clay courts, she may hope for better results.
Over the last few seasons, Putintseva has enjoyed a decent spell on this surface as she won her two career titles in Nuremberg and Budapest. Last year, she was 14-7 on red dirt – far better than the other two turfs.
Putintseva v Svitolina Prediction and Tip
If this were any other day where Svitolina was coming with some momentum to her game, she would be starting as the heavy favourite. However, this time, she is playing after a year-long pause from professional action. Putintseva can surely test her and, possibly, find another rare win against the Ukrainian.
