Tamara Zidansek v Reka Jani Head to Head
There has been only one previous meeting between these two and even that came on the ITF circuit in 2016. Jani had won that in straight sets.

Ranked 22nd in the world as recently as last season, Zidansek has fallen to outside the top 100 and that has been down to her run of underwhelming results in the second half of the previous season.
Even this year hasn’t been too great and it has meant that Zidansek has continued to struggled to reach the heights of success that she had in the times preceding these.
Zidansek started this season with three successive first round exits before finally winning a couple of rounds at the Hua Hin Open. Following this, she opted to participate on the ITF circuit but that barely gave her too much respite as the Slovenian player made just one semifinal from three tournaments.
A qualifying loss at the Miami Open meant she had the opportunity to feature in the first WTA tournament on clay last week – it came on the WTA 125 circuit in San Luis Patosi – and she made it to the quarterfinal there to give herself something to work with.

Jani 1-11 for the Season Despite ITF Appearances
While Jani has never been a top-100 player in her career, even by those standards her season has run into some appalling form.
The 130th-ranked player has featured in 11 tournaments spread across the ITF, WTA 125 and WTA main tours and won just one match in them. That came in the ITF Orlando tournament in January.
Since then, Jani has lost eight matches in a row including in the first round at the San Luis Patosi Open. On clay, she has had a 0-4 record this season after winning 51 of the 78 matches she had played on the same surface last year.
What Jani needs is a dramatic turnaround but against a player equally hungry for success, it could be a difficult journey.
