Roberto Bautista Agut v Quentin Halys Head to Head

Bautista Agut and Halys have never faced off in a competitive match before this.

Bautista Agut in Strife This Season

Bautista-Agut has had his time under the sun in the early part of 2023 when he made the final of the Adelaide International but his form has turned around for the worse since then.

Sure he made the fourth round at the Australian Open with a win over Andy Murray being his best showing. This, however, was followed by a string of seven matches of which Bautista Agut has won just one.

What is surprising to see is at the two Masters 1000 tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami, Bautista-Agut lost in the second round. And at both of them he fell to Emil Ruusuvuori.

He now moves on to clay, a surface on which he has won just two of his 11 ATP titles and other than a shock win in Kitzbuhel, hasn’t had the best time of it over the past couple of seasons.

Halys Betters Borges

Nuno Borges was a favourite going into his opening round match against Halys but the Frenchman overturned his own 7/5 odds to carve out a straight-set win.

Halys won 6-3, 6-4 in a match that lasted a mere hour and 19 minutes and saw him get himself a break of serve in both sets. In turn, he faced just two break-points and saved both of them to brush aside his opponent.

What’s interesting to note is that in the 10 previous matches that Halys had played at the highest level on clay, he had won just one.

No wonder then the bookmakers had pegged him at those odds but what it also means is that Halys comes into his second round with that much more confidence in his own abilities on this surface.

And up against a player gasping for form, he might have a chance to test out his Spanish opponent.

Bautista Agut v Halys Prediction and Tip

While Bautista-Agut is 11/20 to win this, one’s got to quickly add here that Halys won’t be a pushover and could grab at least a set if not more.
