Mirjam Bjorklund v Tamara Zidansek Head to Head
Bjorklund leads 1-0, beating Zidansek as recently as the Miami Open qualifiers in three sets.

Zidansek Starts Strong
Tamara Zidansek is off to a great start in the Copa Colsanitas, as she beat Reka Luca Jani 6-0, 6-1 in an hour. The 25-year-old was on fire as she did not lose her serve while taking advantage of her opponent’s sloppy service game (36% first-serve win rate).
The Slovenian made a name for herself in 2021 when she won her maiden clay-court title in Lausanne – a feat that was preceded by a runner-up showing right here in Bogota. She lost that final to home favourite Camila Osorio. After missing out on the 2022 edition, Tamara is back again, hoping to go the distance.
Some may consider it to be a tall order, given that Zidansek hasn’t been in the best form recently. She has fallen down to the 110th spot (from a career-high of #22).
Her 2023 highlights include a quarterfinal showing in WTA Hua Hin and a couple of deep runs on the ITF Tour. Her last event was in San Luis, where was among the final eight. On the whole, she is now 14-9.

Bjorklund Upsets Mertens
Mirjam Bjorklund of Sweden dispatched the top seed Elise Mertens 6-1, 4-6, 7-6(3) to pretty much blow the field wide open. With the top seed now gone – a feat that needed two hours and 41 minutes – anyone and everyone can now win the Bogota event.
While Mirjam is in that race, her chances are slim. Her tally is now 9-7, where most recently, she won three matches in the Miami Open (starting as a qualifier).
Compared to Zidansek, Bjorklund isn’t that well-experienced either, as she peaked at the 123rd spot in June 2022. She has some experience on clay in the form of Challenger doubles and nine ITF finals, but will that be enough to beat her opponent again? Perhaps, the win against Mertens can make her case.
Zidansek v Bjorklund Prediction and Tip
Zidansek is the odds-on favourite for us, but Mirjam is equipped to cause an upset again. Expect an even affair here.
