Jessica Pegula v Irina-Camelia Begu Head to Head
Begu leads 2-1. They met twice last year and both won a match each. Pegula won their clay court battle at Roland Garros.

World no. 3 Jessica Pegula began her Charleston campaign with a straight sets drubbing of Anna Blinkova in the second round on Wednesday.
The top seed, who was a semifinalist in Miami last week, needed just 65 minutes to beat the Russian 6-2, 6-0.
Pegula dropped just eight points on her serve in the first set and four points in the second as she reached the round of 16 in Charleston for the third time in her career. She is yet to reach a quarterfinal in the WTA 500 tournament. but this could be the first time in her fifth try when she makes it to the last eight.
The 29-year-old American improved her season record to 20-6.
A finalist in Doha this year, she has reached the quarterfinals or higher stage four times this season, reaching the last eight at the Australian Open and the semifinals in Dubai and Miami. Can she reach her fifth quarterfinal of the season with a win on Thursday?

Begu Breezes Past Kenin
No. 15 seed Irina-Camelia Begu stormed into the third round with a straight sets shellacking of Sofia Kenin in the round of 32 on Wednesday.
The Romanian, who had beaten Dalma Gálfi 6-1, 7-5 in the first round, needed just an hour and 23 minutes to beat the American 6-1, 6-4 in the second round.
Begu wasn’t broken in the match as she saved all the four break points that she faced. In contrast, she has five breaking chances in the match and she capitalised on three of them to beat the world no. 142.
Ranked no. 37th in the world, the 32-year-old Begu improved her season record to 7-6. She was a semifinalist in the season opener in Adelaide, but failed to win consecutive matches in the next five tournaments. Having won two in a row in Charleston, she will be hoping to keep the momentum going in the third round as she chases a fourth quarterfinal spot in Charleston.
She had reached three consecutive quarterfinals in Charleston in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
