Belinda Bencic v Shelby Rogers Head to Head
There have been four previous meetings between these two players including one in the qualifiers of the WTA Beijing and Bencic has won them all. They had played as recently as the Abu Dhabi Open earlier this year where Bencic carved out a straight-set win.

Katherine Sebov had come into her second round match against Bencic with some excellent form under her belt at the lower level. As a player ranked outside the top 100, she looked like she could have tested some of the top-50 players and as was on show in the first round she had managed to get the better of Lauren Davis.
Bencic did not offer her too many chances though.
In a match lasting just 62 minutes, the Swiss number one cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 win with Bencic losing a mere five points on her own serve in the entire match. Needless to say she did not face a single break-point while getting the better of her opponent’s serve on five occasions.
Having won this title last season, Bencic had entered the Charleston Open as one of the players to watch out but her more recent form in hardcourt competitions looked to have given a different impression. She had won just two of her last five matches and in another had withdrawn from the encounter because of fatigue.
All that seems to have been put behind her for now.

Rogers in a Repeat of Round One Win
Rogers had surprised fellow American Danielle Collins in the first round here after having lost the first set in a tie-breaker. Much like in the same manner she overcame the loss of an opening tie-breaker against another American Caty McNally to eke out a three-set win in her second round too.
It wasn’t the most straightforward of wins, not in the first two sets for sure.
After losing the opening set, Rogers faced three break-points down when she was 2-3 down and was then broken in the eighth game of the second set. McNally failed to serve out the match in the next game and was then broken again in the 11th game to allow Rogers to come back into the encounter.
And much like what happened in the opener, Rogers clinched the match 6-1 in the third set to progress into round three.
Rogers’ well-known grittiness has meant she will now be a credible threat to the defending champion’s chances.
Bencic v Rogers Prediction and Tip
Bencic starts a favourite but the fighting form that Rogers is in, we cannot rule out an upset result here. One way or the other, expecting Rogers to push Bencic in it.
