Daria Kasatkina v Madison Keys Head to Head

Keys leads the rivalry 8-1. She had won all of their first seven matches, before Kasatkina finally beat her in Melbourne-2 last year. They met once again in San Diego later in 2022 and Keys won that match in straight sets.

Kasatkina Wins Up and Down Battle Against Pera

2017 champion Daria Kasatkina is making her fourth main draw appearance in Charleston and she is back in the quarterfinals for the fourth time.

Kasatkina, who defeated Jelena Ostapenko for the title six years ago, was a quarterfinalist in 2016 and 2018.

This year the Russian had begun her campaign with a 6-2, 6-1 drubbing of Madison Brengle in the second round. Although the third round contest was a bit tougher than her second round win, she still won it in straight sets, defeating Bernarda Pera 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).

While Kasatkina didn’t face a single break point against Brengle, she had a tough time against Pera. After Kasatkina took the first set, both players broke each other thrice in the second set. Pera saved two match points in the 10th game and then Kasatkina saved two break points in the 12th game to send the set into the tiebreak. The Russian dominated the tiebreak to win the one hour and 33 minute contest 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).

The world no. 8, who was a finalist in Adelaide-2 earlier this year, will be featuring in her third quarterfinal of the season on Friday. Can she advance to the semifinals?

Keys Holds Off Linette in Three

Ninth seed Madison Keys edged out the eighth seed Magda Linette in three sets on Thursday to move into the quarterfinals for the fifth time in Charleston.

Keys is a past champion, winning the title in 2019 by beating Caroline Wozniacki in the final. She was also a finalist in 2015, when she finished runner-up to Angelique Kerber. She also made it to the final four in 2018 and the last eight in 2013.

This year, the world no. 22 had begun her campaign with easy straight set wins over compatriots Emma Navarro and Hailey Baptiste in the first two rounds respectively.

However, the American needed three sets to see off the Polish player in the third round on Thursday. Keys saved 5 of 6 break points that she faced in the match and converted 4 of 11 that she held to beat the world no. 19, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.

Following the win, Keys is now 14-5 for the season. She was also a quarterfinalist in Dubai earlier this year.

Daria Kasatkina v Madison Keys Prediction and Tip

Kasatkina is the third seed and also a top 10 player, however, despite her superior seeding and ranking, the lower ranked Keys will hold the edge in this contest. She has and 8-1 record against the Russian and that gives her a huge psychological edge going into this contest. Expect a good game between the past champions with the American edging out the Russian.
