Kamilla Rakhimova v Sara Sorribes Tormo Head to Head

There have been two previous meetings between these two players, both of which came in 2022 and saw the two players win one match apiece. Both matches were played in hardcourt competitions.

Rakhimova Made to Fight by Bouchard

Eugenie Bouchard rarely plays competition tennis these days and that is reflected in current WTA Ranking of 327th in the world.

Which is why Rakhimova would have gone into her second round match against her Canadian opponent thinking she has a good chance of making the quarterfinal of a WTA tournament for the first time this season.

When Rakhimova blasted past Bouchard in the first set, winning it 6-0, that looked to be an even more realistic chance before things turned around. The two shared a break apiece in the first five games of the second set and then Rakhimova had a couple of match-points in the ensuing tie-breaker as well.

Bouchard saved both and won the tie-breaker 9-7 to take the match into a decider.

Fortunately for Rakhimova, she managed to keep her nerve and her serve in the third set, before breaking Bouchard in the 10th game to scrape past her opponent.

Rakhimova will hope to do a better job in her quarterfinal against the 2017 semifinalist.

Tormo Struggles in Straight-Set Win over Arango

Sorribes Tormo did have issues with her serves in her second round win over Emiliana Arango but in the end she came through in straight sets to book her quarterfinal place.

The Spaniard, who had eased her way past Aliona Bolsova in the first round, was broken four times by Arango but found something in her reserves each time to make a comeback.

In the first set, for instance, Sorribes Tormo went a break up twice, only to let go of the advantage both times. It was her ability to keep her mind over matter and break Arango as she served to stay in the set which helped her grab the first set.

The second set saw her race to a 4-0 lead but she still found it tough to close it out as she was broken two more times after that. Fortunately for Sorribes Tormo, an extra break of serve in the sixth game ensured she could wrap it up in two.

Interestingly enough, Sorribes Tormo is in her first tournament of the season and starts off a favourite in this quarterfinal.

Rakhimova v Sorribes Tormo Prediction and Tip

Given Sorribes Tormo’s performances on clay otherwise and in this tournament, it’s no surprise she is 1/2 to win this. Backing her to do that in two.
