This will be the first meeting between these two players.

Vacherot New to the Highest Level

While Vacherot has represented Monaco in the Davis Cup and won four matches there, he hasn’t done much of note at the highest level of the ATP circuit.

At the Challenger circuit, however, Vacherot has won a title to go with four others at the Futures level. What’s interesting to see is all of these five tournament wins have come in hardcourt competitions.

The one time he did make the final of a Futures competition was way back in 2016.

This year, Vacherot has appeared in two Challenger tournaments on clay in the lead-up to this wildcard at the Monte-Carlo Masters. At the first, in San Remo he came through the qualifiers to enter the main draw where he lost in the first round.

This was followed by a qualifying round exit in Barletta a week ago.

Nardi Surprises Two Opponents to Make Main Draw

Nardi is known for his performances on clay but what has been fascinating to see if he has won three Challenger titles in his career and all of them have come outside of clay.

And even earlier this season, Nardi made it to the final of the Pune Challenger before going down to Max Purcell – again in a hardcourt competition.

While Nardi had fallen in the first round of both, the San Remo Challenger and Estoril Open before the start of this tournament, he has come back well to win his qualifiers here. That was despite starting out at 1/1 against Constant Lestienne in the opener and 7/5 against Oscar Otte in the second.

Nardi will start off as a favourite against a player ranked 350th in the world and would also be thankful of the day’s break between his second qualifier and this opening round match, having been stretched by Otte to three sets and nearly three hours.

Vacherot v Nardi Prediction and Tip

Nardi shouldn’t have a lot of difficulties in getting past his opponent here and a straight-set win looks likely.
