Our 2023 ATP Barcelona Open Predictions & Picks

We haven’t seen an underdog story at this tournament since Kei Nishikori won it almost 10 years ago. And despite the absence of Rafael Nadal who has won the Barcelona Open a record 12 times, four of the world’s top 10 are in the mix.

And the big favorite is the defending champion Carlos Alcaraz who withdrew from Monte Carlo this past week. Alcaraz should be fresh and raring to go following his month-long exertions in North America. We are backing the World No. 2 in the outright market.

Despite starting the season with 10 straight wins on Australian hard courts, Stefanos Tsitsipas has yet to lift a title in 2023. Last week his reign in Monte Carlo came to a juddering halt in the quarterfinal when he lost to Taylor Fritz. Tsitsipas will be extra motivated to go all guns blazing in Barcelona, and could potentially break his duck after losing two finals here.
