Our 2023 ATP Munich Open Predictions & Picks
The odds are yet to come out, but Alexander Zverev likely be the top favorite to lift his third BMW Open in Munich. Zverev has made at least the quarterfinal four times in eight visits, winning the tournament on multiple occasions.
Zverev looks like he is in the groove at the perfect time. A title win is what is missing since his comeback from an ankle injury. And based on his levels from Indian Wells and Monte Carlo, Zverev might be too good for the 28-man field.
We are really cautious about taking one of Holger Rune or Taylor Fritz given that both are competing in the latter stages in Monte Carlo.
Instead, we would like to single out Sebastian Baez who might be Zverev’s biggest obstacle in the draw. Baez has won a title on clay this year and has made three more quarterfinals. If you are looking for a perennial threat on this surface, the young Argentine fits the bill.
Two underdogs who could also be in for a big week are France’s Quentin Halys and Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff. Struff recently made the Monte Carlo last eight this past week and has re-entered the top 100. He’ll look to win his first ATP title, the same case scenario as Halys.
- Outright Winner Tip: Alexander Zverev
- Outright Winner Dark Horse Tip: Quentin Halys
