Andrey Rublev v Holger Rune Head to Head

Two previous meetings have yielded in one win apiece for both players. Rune won at the 2022 Paris Masters on his way to the title while Rublev avenged that loss in the fourth round of the Australian Open earlier this year.

Comeback Win for Rublev over Fritz

It took Rublev some time but he managed to get it past Taylor Fritz to make it to the final of the Monte-Carlo Masters.

Having overcome Jaume Munar, Karen Khachanov and Jan-Lennard in the previous rounds, the 2021 finalist in this tournament, Rublev was on court for two hours and 11 minutes to repeat that showing.

He won 5-7, 6-1, 6-3 against his American opponent, breaking him a whopping eight times from the 21 opportunities he got. This followed Rublev losing his own serve on four occasions in the first set and coming back from a break down in the third to clinch the victory.

Fritz saved three match-points on his own serve but Rublev then served out to love to oust the world number 10.

Looking at Rublev’s performances over the course of this tournament it is fair to say that he has found to keep winning but for the first time he will also be up against a superior opponent on this surface. Can he clinch his maiden ATP Masters 1000 title?

Rune Stuns Sinner

Jannik Sinner has been some excellent run of form and the 11/20 favourite in the semifinal looked to be on his way to entering another final when he won the first set of that match against Rune.

A combination of rain and brilliant tennis from Rune helped in stopping Sinner right in his tracks, with the Danish player carving out a three-set win.

Rune, who had benefitted from the withdrawal of Matteo Berrettini in an earlier round and then defeated Daniil Medvedev in the quarterfinal, clinched a 1-6, 7-5, 7-5 victory in a match that lasted two hours and 42 minutes.

A couple of breaks of serves for Sinner sealed the deal in the first set and while the Italian broke back from being 3-5 down in the second, he failed to stop Rune from breaking him again in the 12th game.

Sinner saved break-points in the fourth and the eighth game of the decider but serving to stay in the match in the 12th, he was broken off the first match-point on offer. Rune had made his second Masters 1000 final and will now start a favourite.

Rublev v Rune Prediction and Tip

Rather interestingly, the way Rune has played all tournament, he starts a 3/5 favourite here but we believe it might not be that straightforward.
