Molcan Coming Back from Hip Injury
Alex Molcan will be in action for the first time since his withdrawal from the Miami Open.
The world no. 72 had won the first two rounds against Jordan Thompson and Yoshihito Nishioka respectively, but he withdrew before the round of 16 clash against Daniil Medvedev due to a right hip injury.
The Slovak player has an excellent clay court record and he had a particularly good season on the surface last year. Molcan finished with a 17-10 record, across levels, on clay in 2022, which included runner-up finishes in Marrakech and Lyon and a semifinal finish in Hamburg.
The 25-year-old lefty has featured in three ATP finals so far. In addition to the two finals last year, he was also a finalist in Belgrade in 2021.
Molcan has played in two tournaments on clay this year, falling in the first round in Buenos Aires and reaching only as far as the second round in Rio.

Daniel Had a Solid Run in March
Taro Daniel is 8-5 on the tour and 15-9 overall this year. The Japanese player had a slow start to the season, but he struck form in March.
First, the 30-year-old reached the quarterfinals in Acapulco by beating Casper Ruud en route and then he made it to the third round of Indian Wells by beating Matteo Berrettini in round 2.
He followed that performance with a run to the third round of the Miami Open by beating Alexander Zverev in the second round.
Most recently, Daniel participated in the Monte-Carlo Open, but the world no. 98 failed to go past the second qualifying round.
Daniel has played in one ATP final in his career, winning the title in Istanbul in 2018.
Overall, Daniel has a career record of 32-42 on clay on the tour. He will be hoping to make a good start in Banja Luka.
Molcan v Daniel Prediction and Tip
Although Molcan is coming off an injury, he will still be the favourite in this contest. He had a fascinating run on clay last year and will look to continue that sort of form on European clay.
