Alexander Bublik v Emil Ruusuvuori Head to Head
They played three times so far with Ruusuvuori leading 2-1. The only clay match played last year in Barcelona was won by Ruusuvuori 6-3 6-1.

Alexander Bublik is having an abysmal year so far with only six wins on twenty matches played. His level has been all over the place but it’s not been as bad as you might think. In most matches, Bublik produces a solid level but he simply folds at certain times.
For example, in Miami he lead and served for the set against J.J. Wolf but then got broken after a very unserious game completely falling apart after that. There has been a lot of that so far this year with his very unserious nature at times simply too much to overcome.
Clay has generally never been his favourite surface so his loose style is even more dramatic on these types of courts. He faced his opponent last year in Barcelona and it was just a terrible performance as he won only four games in total in two sets.
I don’t see him producing much better this year though he has looked a bit more focused in recent weeks. Monte-Carlo was a solid match for him.

Ruusuvuori Improving Steadily on Clay
Emil Ruusuvuori didn’t come out as the best player on clay due to his serve and flat groundstrokes not being as effective on the surface. He’s made quite a bit of progress on it over the years posting a respectable 11-10 record last year.
This year he’s 1-2 with a loss to Jiri Lehecka in Monte-Carlo last week. It was a decent match overall as he broke his opponent more than once but his aggressive style simply didn’t work that day. He can very tough to play when things go his way but that wasn’t one of these days.
Ruusuvuori played Bublik a few times winning two of the three matches they played. Only one was played on clay and that was an easy win for him. Interestingly it happened in Barcelona last year and now he has a chance to do the same thing again.
Regardless of the form, I do think he will this match because he’ll certainly care about it more than Bublik who has been bad for months now.
Bublik v Ruusuvuori Prediction and Tip
I’m not sure the win for the Finnish player comes as easily as last year but I do think that Ruuusuvuori will win. He’s simply playing better right now.
