Qinwen Zheng v Alycia Parks Head to Head
There has been one previous meeting between these two players and Parks had won that in straight sets on the grass courts of Berlin.

It’s been a solid start to the season for Zheng who rose to 23rd in the world and is currently perched in the top 25 of the rankings. A win-loss record of 11-6 at the highest level of tennis also points to a steady improvement for the 20-year-old Chinese player.
What will be interesting to watch is how she makes that switch over to clay.
Zheng did have an excellent time of it on dirt last year. She featured in Charleston and Madrid in the only two tournaments before Roland-Garros and won just one match but from that point on her performances improved.
At the French Open, Zheng made the fourth round where she took a set off Iga Swiatek. And then at the Valencia Open, a WTA 125 competition, she won her first title on the WTA circuit.
She starts off against a player who has struggled to get going on clay.

Parks in Form Strife after Lyon
She was the winner of the Lyon Open earlier this year but it’s safe to say that the result is beginning to look more and more a flash in the pan for Parks.
Since that tournament victory, Parks has participated in seven tournaments and won just two matches – at the first round of Merida and a qualifier at this Stuttgart Open.
Parks then lost her second qualifying match but has still come through as a lucky loser to set up this meeting with Zheng.
Overall too, Parks hasn’t played too many matches on clay at the highest level. Take last season for example, and Parks participated in three such tournaments – Charleston Open, French Open and WTA Parma. She fell at the first hurdle in Charleston, lost the first qualifier at Roland-Garros and the second qualifying round in Parma.
With that being the case, it’s tough to see what she can do to overcome Zheng here.

While Zheng hasn’t played any clay tennis this season, she seems like she would prove to be a handful here. One of the sets could be bit of a fight but that’s about it.
