Damir Dzumhur v Liam Broady Head to Head

The pair have played each other twice before, and their head to head record is one win apiece.

Dzumhur won their meeting in St. Petersburg in 2017, but, two months ago, Broady brushed him aside in their Challenger match in Vilnius.

Wildcard Dzumhur Beaten Finalist Last Year

Dzumhur has received a wildcard into what is a home event for him.

Last year, when it was still a Challenger event, he reached the final in Banja Luka, but was then heavily beaten by the Hungarian Fabian Marozsan.

In his prime he was ranked as high as 23rd in the world, and he has won three senior titles, but none of them on clay, and his last final was almost five years ago on grass in Turkey.

Since then continued struggles with form have seen him slide down the rankings, although two Challenger final defeats in 2022, including in this event, did at least slow his decline.

This though, will be only the second time he has appeared in the main draw of a senior ATP event this year.

The first was in Qatar where he came through qualifying to earn himself a tie with the Czech Jiri Lehecka, only to lose in straight sets.

Broady Enters as a Lucky Loser

Broady has earned a reprieve, and enters the main draw as a Lucky Loser, having been beaten by the teenage Croat Dino Primzic in the second round of qualifying.

Prior to that he had been enjoying a good season on the Challenger tour. He won an event in Lithuania in February, and was runner-up in another tournament in Switzerland last month.

On the main tour, his best result had come in Qatar, where he came through two rounds of qualifying to reach the second round.

He is primarily known as a hard court player though – this is his first tournament of the year on clay.

Dzumhur v Broady Prediction and Tip

Although Broady beat the Bosnian for the loss of just four games when the pair met on the Challenger circuit two months ago, that was on hard courts.

On clay, and in front of his home fans, the odds would appear more to favour Dzumhur.
