Alcaraz Returns to Clay after Sunshine Masters

Alcaraz was one of the few top-10 players to have flown to South America to participate in the clay court swing there.

And he did well too, winning the title at the Argentina Open and then making the final of the Buenos Aires where Cameron Norrie got the better of him.

The switch over to hardcourt tournaments was an excellent one for the US Open winner as he went on to lift the Indian Wells Masters title and finished a semifinalist at the Miami Open.

This gives him an 18-2 win-loss record for the season and Alcaraz now returns to the site of his fourth career title win having grabbed the tournament victory here last season.

Can he start off in the manner he had done in South America?

Borges Surprises Ivashka

Ilya Ivashka was 3/5 to win his opening round match against Borges but fell to an easy defeat at the hands of the Portuguese player.

Borges shrugged off his first round at Estoril to Quentin Halys, to carve out a 6-2, 6-3 win over Ivashka in a matter of an hour and 28 minutes. With that he made the second round of a tournament for only the third time this season.

What was rather intriguing to see was the difference in their serving.

Borges was broken twice, sure, but Ivashka faced a whopping 20 break-points in the match and lost his serve five times. And that was down to the difference in their second serves with Borges winning 75% of them while Ivashka managing only 33%.

Can Borges conjure up some dazzling magic to get the better of his opponent here?

Alcaraz v Borges Prediction and Tip

This should be a fairly straightforward effort for Alcaraz who should win it in straight sets.
