Botic van de Zandschulp v Marcos Giron Head to Head

There have been two previous meetings between these two players and Giron has won both times.

Giron Squeaks Past Ritschard

It needed Giron three sets to get through his second round match but he did so in the end to make it to his maiden quarterfinal of a clay court event at the highest level.

Giron, who has made the third round at both, the Rome Masters and French Open, made it successive wins here in Munich with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Alexander Ritschard. The match lasted two hours and 14 minutes.

Having stunned the in-form, clay-court specialist Roberto Carballes Baena in the first round, Giron was in early trouble when he was broken in the very first game and then lost his serve in the ninth game of the opening set to concede the lead.

He lost his serve in the second set’s opening game again but from that point onward it turned out to be one-way traffic as Giron broke his opponent twice in each of the remaining two sets. In return, the American faced just one break-point.

van de Zandschulp Has No Problems against Karatsev

Aslan Karatsev’s recent struggles have been well-chronicled but even while entering their second round match as a 9/20 favourite, van de Zandschulp wouldn’t have thought it would be this easy.

Following a first round bye, van de Zandschulp needed a mere 70 minutes to get past Karatsev, winning 6-2, 6-0 in the process.

What was interesting to see was van de Zandschulp faced six break-points in the match and saved each one of them. On the other hand he broke Karatsev five times from the 10 opportunities he got.

This follows an opening exit at the Marrakesh Open and a second round defeat in Monte-Carlo last week. This time around, van de Zandschulp will fancy his chances a little more.

van de Zandschulp v Giron Prediction and Tip

van de Zandschulp starts off a 2/5 favourite here but it might not be that easy.
