Andrey Rublev v Alex Molcan Head to Head

This will be their first meeting on the ATP Tour.

Rublev in Great Form

World No. 6 Andrey Rublev has hardly had to break a sweat in Banja Luka. With a bye into round two, the second seed dismissed Juan Varillas and Damir Dzumhur in straight sets to reach the semis.

With these wins, the 25-year-old Russian has improved his year-to-date record to 22-8 and is yet to lose a match on clay.

Most recently, Rublev won the Monte-Carlo Masters by beating many big names like Karen Khachanov, Taylor Fritz, and Holger Rune en route. His other highlights include a runner-up showing in ATP Dubai and a quarterfinal stint in the Australian Open.

With this kind of form and momentum, Andrey is wonderfully positioned to make it to the final in the inaugural Srpska Open.

Molcan in a Rare Semifinal

Alex Molcan of Slovakia finds himself in his first semifinal of the season. While he may have wished for an easier opponent, he should take some inspiration from his clay-court prowess.

Throughout his career, the 25-year-old has produced his best results on this surface – which includes three ATP clay finals and another seven on the Challenger and Futures Tour.

This week, Molcan found himself in deep waters as he had to play three three-setters to make it this far in the competition. In the opener, he moved past Taro Daniel and followed it with a 7-6(4), 4-6, 7-5 win over Alexei Popyrin. In the quarters, he then defeated Laslo Djere 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 to improve his record for the year to 9-8.

Up until now, Alex’s best results came in Indian Wells and Miami, where he reached round three.

Rublev v Molcan Prediction and Tip

This one is a no-brainer. Rublev is the heavy favourite, and anything short of a straight-set win would be simply unacceptable from him. Expect the Russian to win this one comfortably – as he has done so far in Banja Luka.
