World no. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas sailed into the semifinals with third consecutive straight sets win at the Barcelona Open on Friday.
The second seed Greek, who is yet to be broken in the tournament, needed an hour and 22 minutes to dispatch Australia’s Alex de Minaur 6-4, 6-2. Tsitsipas faced just one break point in the match, which he saved. In contrast, he had nine chances to break the world no. 19 and he capitalised on three of them to ease into the final four stage.
Tsitsipas had saved 2 of 2 break points and converted 4 of 9 in his third round win over Denis Shapovalov and he was equally dominant in his second round win over Pablo Cachin. He did not face a single break point against the Argentine, while converting 3 of 3 during a 6-4, 6-2 victory.
Tsitsipas is chasing a 26th career final. The 24-year-old has a 9-16 record in finals. He has featured in two Barcelona finals, finishing runner-up to Rafael Nadal in 2018 and 2021. Can the Australian Open runner-up reach a third final in Barcelona and a second this year with a win on Saturday?

Musetti Receives a Walkover
World no. 20 Lorenzo Musetti moved into the final four stage in Barcelona for the first time in his career after he received a walkover against fourth seed Jannik Sinner in the quarterfinal on Friday.
Sinner could not take the court due to an illness, which allowed his compatriot to reach his first semifinal of the season.
The ninth seed Musetti, who had helped Italy reach the final of the United Cup at the start of the season, had lost in the quarterfinals in Buenos Aires, Marrakech and Monte-Carlo.
He will be aiming to reach a third career final. He had won the titles in Hamburg and Napoli last year.
Musetti had begun his Barcelona campaign with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Jason Kubler. He then rebounded from a set down to beat Cameron Norrie 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 in the third round.
