World no. 10 Taylor Fritz has been in great form this season and he has continued his dazzling run on his Munich debut.

The American, who rallied from a set down to beat Marton Fucsovics in the second round, needed an hour and 31 minutes to defeat world no. 101 Thiem 6-3, 6-4 in the last eight stage on Friday.

Fritz got the sole break of the opening set and then he came back from 0-2 down in the second to wrap up the match 6-3, 6-4.

Seeded no. 2 in the tournament, Fritz will be featuring in his fifth semifinal of the season on Saturday. only once has he gone on to reach the final, when he won the title in Delray Beach.

A five-time winner on the tour, Fritz is looking to reach an 11th career final.

Van de Zandschulp Holds Off Giron

Botic Van de Zandschulp reached his second semifinal of the year after he held off America’s Marcos Giron in a one hour and 51 minute contest.

The Dutch player, who had made it to the final four in the season opener in Pune, won 83% points on his first delivery, saved 3 of 5 break points and converted 3 of 10 to oust Giron 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.

The fourth seed had begun his Munich Challenge with a 6-2, 6-0 thrashing of Aslan Karatsev in the round of 16.

Van de Zandschulp was a finalist on his debut in Munich last year, but he was forced to retire from the title clash after just seven games in the first set due to chest pain.

The world no. 27 will be hoping to finish off the incomplete job this year, but faces huge obstacle in the semifinal.
