Top seed Iga Swiatek moved into the second straight Stuttgart final after Ons Jabeur retired from the semifinal contest due to a calf injury.

Jabeur injured her left calf in the very first game of the match. She needed treatment after the first game, but returned for two more games. However, she felt she could not continue and pulled out with Swiatek leading 3-0.

The defending champion, who will be playing in her third final, is chasing her second title of the season. She was the champion in Doha and a runner-up in Dubai.

Playing her first clay court tournament of the season, the Pole defeated Qinwen Zheng 6-1, 6-4 in the second round and then came back from a set down to beat Karolina Pliskova 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 in the quarterfinal.

Sabalenka Breezes Past Potapova

Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka reached her fourth final of the season with a crushing 6-1, 6-2 victory over Anastasia Potapova.

The Belarusian, who raced to 5-0 and 4-0 leads in the two sets, was not broken in the match as she saved all three of the break points that she faced. She had five breaking chances in the match and capitalised on four of them.

The world no. 2 is looking to clinch her third title of the year. In addition to the first major, she also won the title in Adelaide and finished runner-up in Indian Wells.

Sabalenka had begun her Stuttgart campaign with a straight sets win over Barbora Krejcikova in the round of 16. She then rallied from a set down to beat Paula Badosa in three in the quarterfinal.

Sabalenka was a finalist in Stuttgart in 2021 and 2022. She has made a hat-trick of finals, but will she win the title this year?

Swiatek v Sabalenka Prediction and Tip
