Lesia Tsurenko v Lucia Bronzetti Head to Head
The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between the 33 year old Ukrainian, and the Italian, who is nine years younger.

Tsurenko Never Been Beyond the First Round in Madrid
Tsurenko has enjoyed a mini career renaissance this year, having reached her first final since 2019 in Hua Hin, eventually losing to Lin Zhu of China.
She was able to then gain some revenge for that defeat by Lin in Indian Wells, where she reached the third round. Those results have helped her climb back into the top 100 after a three year absence, although clay is not her preferred surface.
All four of Tsurenko’s WTA titles have been won on hard courts.
Her first – and, to date, only – clay court of the tournament this season was in Charleston, where she was beaten in the second round by Ons Jabeur.
Tsurenko has also never been beyond the first round in Madrid.

Bronzetti Has Not Won on the Main Tour This Year
Bronzetti should feel more at home on the surface.
Like most Italian players she was brought up on clay, and she has already enjoyed some joy on it in her professional career, winning five ITF singles and four doubles titles on the surface, and reaching her first WTA final last year on home soil in Palermo, where she was beaten by the Romanian, Irena=Camelia Begu.
However, Bronzetti has yet to win a singles match on the main tour this year, although she did rediscover some form by making the final of an ITF event in France at the beginning of this month, a hard court event, eventually losing to the British player Jodie Burrage.
Since then, she played in another ITF event in Switzerland, this time on clay, but lost in the first round.
Tsurenko v Bronzetti Prediction and Tip
This is a very difficult match to call because it features a player who has never been beyond the first round in Madrid against another who has yet to win a main tour singles match this year.
The surface, though, suits Bronzetti better, so it is a question of if she can remember what it means to win again at this level.
