Irina Camelia Begu v Karolina Muchova Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the 2019 French Open where Begu won in three sets.

Begu Coming off Charleston Third Round
After starting off the season by reaching the semifinal at the Adelaide International which consisted of wins over Sofia Kenin and Veronika Kudermetova, Begu looked to have hit the brakes on her performances.
She was sent packing in the second round of the Australian Open, lost three successive openers at Linz, Dubai and Indian Wells and then managed only one win at the Miami Open.
Begu looked to have turned things around a tad at the Charleston Open, where, in her first tournament on clay, the 32-year-old defeated Dalma Galfi and Kenin (again!) to reach the third round.
This follows the kind of season she had on clay last year, having won titles at the Palermo Open and Bucharest Open and reached the fourth round of the French Open. Can she repeat that showing in Madrid this time around?

Muchova Demolishes Kontaveit
Muchova was a 1/4 favourite against the former world number two Anett Kontaveit and the manner in which she played it looked like she was back to her elements.
Having made the quarterfinal at the Indian Wells Open earlier this season and followed that up with a third round appearance in Miami, Muchova needed an hour and 22 minutes to romp past Kontaveit.
The Czech defeated Kontaveit 6-2, 6-2, racing past her opponent after a slow start in her first service game. In fact, Muchova faced a total of five break-points in the match and all of them came in the first two service games before she sealed the deal with a total of five breaks of the Kontaveit serve.
Muchova will now hope she can continue in the same vein against a slightly trickier second round opponent in the form of Begu.
Begu v Muchova Prediction and Tip
Muchova is a favourite but Begu won’t be a pushover and we could see this match take its own twists and turns. Muchova to register a fighting win even if in two sets.
