Aryna Sabalenka v Camila Osorio Head to Head

Their only previous outing came at the 2021 Wimbledon where Sabalenka won in straight sets.

Sabalenka Quells the Cirstea Challenge

Coming into this tournament after having fallen in the final of the Stuttgart Open, Sabalenka opened her campaign with a straight-set win over Sorana Cirstea.

After a first round bye, Sabalenka defeated Cirstea 6-4, 6-3 in a match lasting an hour and 23 minutes.

Sabalenka was quickly off the blocks as she broke her Romanian opponent in the very first game but then dropped her serve in the sixth. Serving at 4-4, Cirstea was then broken off the first break-point she faced before Sabalenka saved one break-point of her own to serve out the set.

The second set saw the two trade breaks in the first three games before Sabalenka ran away with the encounter, closing it out off Cirstea’s serve.

The Belarusian has shown she is equally capable on clay as she has been on other surfaces and can be expected to come out all guns blazing against Osorio.

Osorio Sends Kostyuk On Her Way

Starting out as an underdog against Marta Kostyuk, Osorio looked like she wasn’t threatening the script too much when she lost the first set and then faced seven break-points at 1-1 in the second set.

The 115th-ranked player, who had earlier overcome Clara Burel in the first round, clawed back to save all seven of them before breaking Kostyuk to love in the very next game. And while she dropped her serve in the ninth game of the second set, Osorio broke right back to clinch the equaliser in the very next game.

Osorio continued to put pressure on Kostyuk’s serve to take a 3-0 lead in the decider, saved a break-point in the seventh game and while she missed two match-points on her opponent’s serve, she finished things off in the next game.

Rather interestingly, these two wins come on the back of a two-month layoff for Osorio who had last played in Monterrey. Now comes a bigger challenge though, getting past the world number two but she has beaten one top-10 player in the past – Elina Svitolina in Tenerife.

Can Osorio make a match of this?

Sabalenka v Osorio Prediction and Tip

Sabalenka is a huge a favourite who should grab this in straight sets. We also think Osorio might put up a fight and make it difficult for Sabalenka in one of the sets.
